Jason Duval GTA 6 Character Guide
Jason Duval is one of the two main protagonists in GTA 6, alongside Lucia Caminos. He is connected to the criminal world of Leonida and the drug trade in the Leonida Keys, and Rockstar has shown him in official trailers, screenshots, and the game’s cover art.
Jason’s story is closely linked to Lucia and other criminals in Leonida, including Brian Heder, Cal Hampton, and Raul Bautista. Rockstar has confirmed his role, appearance, and some of his relationships, while details about his background, actor, vehicles, outfits, tattoos, and story can be explored throughout his character profile.
Who Is Jason Duval in GTA 6?
Who is Jason Duval? He is one of two playable protagonists in Jason Duval GTA 6, sharing the spotlight with Lucia Caminos. Rockstar named him in the Trailer 2 announcement on May 6, 2025, and confirmed that players can control both leads. Lucia appeared in the first trailer in December 2023, but the man beside her went unnamed for about seventeen months.
That makes him a big deal for the series. This is the first mainline Grand Theft Auto built around two leads at once, instead of GTA 5’s three separate men.
The game launches on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, and no PC version has been announced. Until then, anything you read about Jason Duval GTA characters beyond Rockstar’s own material deserves a second look.
Jason Duval’s Background Story
Jason Duval’s background is shaped by his early life around criminals, his time in the military, and his eventual return to the criminal world of the Leonida Keys. Each stage of his life leads naturally into the next and helps explain how Jason reaches his position at the start of GTA 6.
Army Past and Troubled Teens
Rockstar’s official character bio is short, but it covers the basics. Jason grew up around grifters and crooks. After a rough adolescence, he joined the Army, hoping to shake off his troubled teens.
The bio doesn’t name a unit, a rank or a year of service. Some reports mention a paratrooper background, but that detail is unconfirmed. Treat it as a rumor until Rockstar says otherwise.
Jason’s Military Service
After growing up around crime, Jason joined the military and gained experience outside the criminal world. His time in the military became an important part of his background before he eventually returned to Leonida.
Returning to the Leonida Keys
After leaving the military, Jason settled in the Leonida Keys and tried to build a more stable life. However, the people and environment around him soon brought him back toward the criminal activities he had known earlier.
Working With Drug Runners
Jason eventually became involved with local drug runners in the Keys, taking on criminal work to make a living. This connection placed him within the wider drug trade and brought him into contact with more experienced criminals.
Working Under Brian Heder
Jason’s work in the Keys connects him with Brian Heder, a veteran of the local drug trade. Brian’s criminal network gives Jason access to more jobs, pushing him further into the world he had hoped to leave behind.
Jason’s Life Before GTA 6
By the time GTA 6 begins, Jason is already familiar with crime but still wants a simpler life. His past, military experience, and connections in the Keys have all shaped the person he is before the main events of the game.
Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos
The heart of the story is the bond between Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos. Rockstar’s official premise says an easy score goes wrong, and the pair end up in a criminal conspiracy stretching across Leonida, forced to rely on each other more than ever. Rupert Humphries, Rockstar’s senior vice president of narrative, described it to Dazed as “a Bonnie and Clyde-type narrative.”
Trailer 2 opens with Lucia Caminos and Jason Duval together as she leaves prison, with Jason waiting outside. From there it follows them partying, traveling and working jobs. Rockstar’s own Lucia bio even says a life with Jason could be her way out.
Fans often search Jason Duval and Lucia as a couple. Rob Nelson of Rockstar North has reportedly said the romance is optional, but I couldn’t confirm that on Rockstar’s own channels.
Jason and Lucia Relationship
Jason and Lucia are the two main protagonists of GTA 6, and their relationship is closely tied to the game’s criminal story. Both come from difficult backgrounds and become partners as they try to make money and survive the dangerous world of Leonida.
Lucia’s Return to Leonida
Lucia’s story begins after her time in the Leonida penitentiary, while Jason is already working for local drug runners. Their lives are already connected to crime before their partnership becomes central to the story.
How Jason and Lucia Met
Rockstar has shown Jason and Lucia together in several official scenes, but the exact details of how they first met have not been fully revealed. Their early connection develops into a close partnership as they become involved in criminal activities across Leonida.
Their Life as a Criminal Duo
As Jason and Lucia grow closer, they begin working together on criminal jobs and rely on each other to handle dangerous situations. Their partnership becomes an important part of how they move through Leonida’s criminal underworld.
Trust Between Jason and Lucia
Their life of crime puts pressure on the trust they have built with each other. Rockstar’s trailers show them relying on one another, but the full strength of their relationship will become clearer through the game’s story.
Jason and Lucia’s Future Together
Jason and Lucia appear determined to build a better life despite the risks surrounding them. Their shared goals and criminal activities place them at the center of GTA 6’s story, making their relationship one of the game’s key narrative elements.
Who Voices Jason Duval in GTA 6?
What Rockstar Has Confirmed
This is the most searched question about him, and the honest answer is short. Rockstar has not announced the jason duval voice actor. Neither trailer, the Extended Look nor the official character bio credits anyone. So if you’re asking who voices jason duval, no official answer exists yet. Rockstar may share its cast closer to launch, but that isn’t guaranteed.
You’ll see names floating around social media, TikTok and a few news sites. Those come from fans and leak communities, not Rockstar. Some people who were named have publicly said they aren’t involved.
Until Rockstar posts a cast list, any jason duval gta 6 voice actor claim is a rumor, and we won’t repeat unverified names here. The same goes for searches like who plays jason duval in gta 6 and jason duval va.
How Fans Reacted to His Voice
Jason’s voice has already split the community. After the Extended Look on August 27, 2026, some players called his deep delivery flat or monotone. Others said it suits a quiet, worn-down ex-soldier. In the footage, Jason gets much of the gunplay while louder side characters grab the attention. It’s a matter of taste, and a few minutes of gameplay is not much to judge from.
Jason Duval’s Age, Height and Ethnicity
Fans want hard numbers, but Rockstar hasn’t given any. If you’re asking how old is jason duval, there’s no official answer. The bio only outlines a timeline: a rough youth, time in the Army, then work in the Keys.
The same goes for jason duval age in general and for jason duval height. No official stat sheet exists, so any exact figure you see online is a guess.
Ethnicity is the same story. Rockstar hasn’t described his background, so jason duval ethnicity gta 6 searches have no official answer. Questions like is jason duval haitian or is jason duval white come from fans reading his appearance, and I found no official source for either. We’ll update this page if Rockstar shares details.
What Jason Duval Looks Like
Official screenshots are the best reference. Rockstar’s released images show Jason with different outfits, hairstyles and facial-hair looks, so searches for jason duval haircut and jason duval hair color don’t have one fixed answer. The bio doesn’t describe his hair. Coverage of the Extended Look also says character customization goes further than in earlier GTA games.
For jason duval physique, you may see claims that eating and working out change his build. That’s reported rather than confirmed, so wait for gameplay. We couldn’t find an official statement on jason duval tattoos, so check Rockstar’s screenshot gallery yourself. Searches like jason duval handsome and jason duval shirtless are mostly fan reactions to the artwork.
Fans also ask about a jason duval face model, or whether he is a jason duval real person. He’s a fictional character, and Rockstar has not credited any real-life model for his face. Some fans compare his look to other Rockstar leads, which we cover next.
Is Jason Duval Related to Arthur Morgan?
Few fan theories have spread as fast as jason duval arthur morgan. After Rockstar’s latest batch of screenshots, players began comparing Jason’s nose, eyes, jawline and rugged facial hair to the Red Dead Redemption 2 outlaw. Some also point to a weapon called the “Morgan revolver” as a possible nod.
There is no official link. Arthur’s story ends in 1899, and Rockstar has never said Jason is a descendant. The resemblance may simply reflect how Rockstar designs its rugged leads, and some fans say he looks like a young John Marston too. Treat it as fan speculation. The theory has also fed plenty of jason duval meme posts, mostly about his constant frown.
How Jason Duval Plays in GTA 6
The Extended Look, released August 27, 2026, runs just under 27 minutes and was captured in-game on PS5. It showed Jason in real gameplay for the first time, from a trap house job gone wrong to a getaway that ends with the crew torching their car.
It also showed a selection wheel with Solo Jason, Solo Lucia and dual control. When the two are together you can swap instantly, and the AI runs whoever you aren’t playing. Rob Nelson of Rockstar North has reportedly said switching is limited by story progression, but that comes from a secondary report. To see where it all happens, check our Trailers and Locations pages.

Interesting Facts
Jason Duval has a few details that set him apart from other GTA 6 characters, from his Army past to his place as one half of the series’ first dual-lead story. Some of these details come straight from Rockstar. Others are fan observations, so each one below is labeled to keep confirmed facts separate from guesses.
What Does the Last Name “Duval” Mean?
Duval is a common French surname that comes from “du val,” meaning “of the valley.” That part is simply how the name works in French. Rockstar hasn’t explained why it chose this name for Jason, so any deeper meaning is unconfirmed. Treat theories about its symbolism as fan speculation until Rockstar says more.
Jason Duval’s Personality Traits
Rockstar’s official bio describes Jason Duval as a man who wants an easy life but keeps running into harder situations. That is the clearest confirmed trait he has. He also grew up around grifters and crooks, which fits the street-smart side many fans notice.
Beyond the bio, most of his personality comes from what we’ve seen in the trailers and the Extended Look, so treat these as impressions rather than confirmed traits. He moves calmly and methodically through gunfights, and he appears loyal to Lucia. Some viewers find him flat, and his personality is still less defined than the more colorful characters around him.
That tension is what makes him interesting: a man who wants out of the life while still being good at it.
